AT&T GSM Voicemail Instructions

Setting up Your Voicemail Box

With AT&T Wireless VoiceMail, callers can leave voice messages for you as soon as you activate your GSM wireless phone, so it's important that you set up your AT&T Wireless VoiceMail box right away. You can access your VoiceMail box from your wireless handset or from a landline phone.

From your wireless headset:
  1. Press the key with the mailbox icon (usually the 1 key). You will be taken directly to the login password prompt.
  2. Please note When checking messages from your wireless handset, you do NOT need to press the [*] key to interrupt your greeting. Airtime (plus applicable long distance) is charged for messages checked from your wireless phone.
From your landline (touch-tone) phone:
  1. Dial your wireless phone number, press the * (asterisk) key to interrupt the greeting. (Note: There are no airtime charges for calls made from any landline phone)

When you access your new VoiceMail box the first time, there will be a brief tutorial to help you set up your new mailbox.

  1. First you will be asked to enter the temporary password 1 1 1 1
  2. You will then be asked to enter a new password of your choice and then press # . (Note: your password cannot begin with 0)
  3. You will then be asked to choose your "Busy" greeting and your "No Answer" greeting, both of which can be the standard greeting or a personal greeting.
  4. Lastly, you will be asked to record your name (press 1) or have the system use your wireless number instead (press #).

That's it! Your mailbox is then ready to retrieve your AT&T Wireless GSM VoiceMail messages. When traveling in the AT&T GSM Area, your phone will indicate that you have voice messages as soon as they come in to your AT&T GSM VoiceMail box.
