Verizon Voicemail Instructions

Setting up Your Voicemail Box

Your DEFAULT PASSWORD is 1 + LAST 4 DIGITS OF CELL #

  1. Dial * 8 6 then press SEND from your wireless phone, when on the Verizon Wireless Network. NOTE: If * 8 6 SEND does not work because you are off the Verizon Wireless network simply dial your wireless phone number from your wireless phone or from a touch-tone/landline phone.
  2. Follow the prompts below:
    What You Hear: What You Do:
    "Hello and welcome to... Pick a number that will be easy for you to remember, but hard for anyone else to guess. Enter the number between 4-7 digits and then press # " Enter a new password and press #.
    "Your new password is...Now we will set-up your voice signature...At the tone please say only your first and last name, then press # Say your first and last name then press #
    "Your name has been recorded as... To re-record your name press..." Press * to re-record your name. Press # if you are satisfied with your recorded name
    "Finally, please select the greeting you wish your callers to hear...At the tone please record your greeting. At the end of your greeting press #." Press 1 to record a personal greeting (record the greeting and press #. Press 2 for a standard greeting

Listening to Your Messages

On the Verizon Wireless Network:
  1. Dial * 8 6 from your wireless phone. If this does not work follow the steps for dialing off the Verizon Wireless Network.
  2. Dial you wirless phone number from your wireless phone or from a touch-tone/landline phone.
  3. Press # to interrupt your greeting. TIP: Press # quickly. If you don't press # before your greeting stops, the system will think you want to leave a message.
  4. Listen to the voice prompts and enter your password.

Off the Verizon Wireless Network:
  1. Dial your wireless phone number from you wireless phone or from a touch-tone/landline phone.
  2. Press # to interrupt your greeting. TIP: Press # quickly. If you don't press # before your greeting stops, the system will think you want to leave a message.
  3. Listen to the voice prompts and enter your password.

Time Saving Tips

While listening to a message:
  • 5 Replay time and date.
  • 6 Play message faster.
  • 4 Play message slower.
  • 3 3 Fast forward to the end
  • 1 1 Rewind to beginning
  • 1 Rewind
  • # Skip to next message
  • 3 3 7 Erase message quickly
  • 3 3 9 Save message quickly
After listening to a message:
  • 1 1 Replay message
  • 9 Save message
  • 7 Erase message
  • 5 Check date/time of message
  • 0 Get help/more information

Note: Call Forwarding preempts Voicemail but returns when forwarding instructions are cancelled. With Call Forwarding turned on, your callers will not be routed to your voice mailbox. Call Forwarded calls to a toll number will incur toll charges.

TIP: Call your wireless number from any touchtone phone to familiarize yourself with the system details.
